Behind the Name

In today’s world, social media makes access to other websites and blogs incredibly easy. Sites like Pinterest and Facebook are places where ideas and items are shared with the world, anyone can stumble upon a blog they truly relate to.

I have had many people ask me about the name of my blog, Beautiful Insanity. What does it mean? How did you come up with it? Why did you pick that title?

What I find entertaining is the interpretation of the title from others. Many assume the name is some narcissistic adaptation of myself and my life. I can assure you it is not. Come on, give me SOME credit here!

I love music, especially lyrics. There is nothing I like more than listening to a song that really speaks to me, the lyrics really hitting home. I am not a particular fan of any one artist or group, I like a variety of different styles.

One day last year I was driving home from work listening to the radio. It was in the summer right before my husband and I got married. Naturally, it was an emotional time of my life and feelings were running high. A song I had heard before came on the radio, but I had never really listened to the words. The song was Old School by Hedley. If you have ever heard the song, the song relives some of the emotions and experiences of growing up. The chorus really stood out for me that day for whatever reason and a particular phrase stuck out, which was:

So why don’t you meet me down behind the old school?
We’ll waste away the weekend with perfect regard
For how cavalier we used to be that beautiful insanity
The apathy’s surrounding me
Don’t close your eyes or we’ll fade away

To me, the phrase “beautiful insanity” explained how I was feeling. Life itself is remarkable, amazing and truly a beautiful miracle. Time goes by so quickly, causing times of chaos and insanity. At that moment, my wedding day was around the corner. I was soon going to marry an amazing man and continue our life together. I looked back at what I had accomplished to that point in my life and felt joy at what my efforts had produced.

Life is beautiful, time goes by way too quickly and as individuals we learn so much. Each person is inspired in different ways with a different purpose. To me, life is beautifully insane. Not just my life, but each persons.
